Hi all -
I think it's going to be wonderful to have a board where we can speak freely, and provide support for one another freely.
I've had Hyperacusis for almost 8 years. My case is pretty severe, and I don't believe that it's noise induced. My history suggests that it's not a likely contributor. I have had several concussions, several whiplashes from being rear-ended, a 3-level cervical fusion, and a second neck operation. I also have Lyme Disease that is relatively severe. I'll throw in TMJ to really confuse the issue. Perhaps I simply experienced "the perfect storm" for Hyperacusis.
I've been through the lowest of depression, and gone so far as to plan my suicide. Thank God I've managed the depression and created a new life, and I do not suffer from any depression at all any more! I've got a great outlook and a promising future. I'm just not getting the life I planned.
I do not work, so I am able to control my sound exposure and I am very limited in what I can handle, but I've learned to maneuver around sound to get a few things done. The Lyme though - makes me very fatigued.
In any case, I've found a much quieter home and I'm building a new life and trying to get as healthy as I can.

I tried to delete the post above when I moved it to the other thread, but can't figure out how to delete my own post. Can I?
Thanks!

Interesting - that's not available on my first post, but is available on my second post. Hmmm...
